Botox/Muscle Relaxant Injections

Botox injections are medications made from variants of botulinum toxin which has the property of paralyzing muscle activity temporarily. When the area with the wrinkles or fine lines is injected the muscle activity there is paralyzed preventing contraction of muscle causing the wrinkle to relax and soften.

Wrinkles and fine lines are formed when facial muscles contract. A muscle relaxant can prevent nerve impulses to be sent to the muscles thus preventing the contraction and thereby prevent wrinkles. Repeated use can prolong the muscle inactivity. Lines formed by squints or frowns, crow's feet and forehead lines can be treated by injecting muscle relaxants.
