Caesarean section also called C-section is the surgical procedure of delivering the baby. It is a common practice which is performed when, due to any reason, a normal vaginal delivery is not possible. When normal delivery is creating risk for the life of baby and mother, cesarean section comes to rescue. Some other reasons which compel the doctor to perform C-section include twin pregnancy, high blood pressure in the mother, breech birth or other problems with the placenta or umbilical cord. However, C-section can also be performed if the mother requests for the same without any specific medical condition.

It takes around 45 minutes to one hour to deliver the baby via C-section. An incision is made in the abdominal skin just above the pubic line and uterus is exposed to operate. It is performed under anesthesia and requires around 6 to 8 weeks for complete recovery and healing.
