Intracytoplasmic sperm injection

In the process of ICSI, sperms are injected directly into the eggs that are obtained from in vitro fertilization (IVF).  Sperm is inserted into the cytoplasm of the egg through the shell with the help of a fine hollow needle. A specialized pipette is used to hold the mature egg. Once the sperm gets injected, the needle is removed carefully. Embryologists keep an eye to see whether the process of normal fertilization is occurring or not.

Once ICSI completes, and the egg gets fertilized, the embryo is transferred to the uterus of the woman. Later, blood tests and ultrasound are done to know if pregnancy has occurred or not. It is an excellent fertility solution for couples who are dealing with male fertility issues like low sperm count, immobile sperms, poor quality of sperms or their lack of ability to penetrate.
